Another Boy!

Well, we had our big anatomical ultrasound on Thursday. As far as we know, everything looks good, and the tech was about 90% sure that the baby is going to be another boy! At least I know what to do with a boy. :-) The baby is still measuring almost a week ahead of our dates.

So far, with the exception of out of control hormones causing me to cry at really odd moments, the need to take 17P injections weekly, and a lot of pelvic symphysis pain, the pregnancy is going along well. My restrictions are still minimal - no lifting more than 15 pounds, resting on my side for at least some part of every day, and continuing to walk as much as possible (1-2 miles a day is ideal). I'm doing well with weight gain. So far, I've made it to the halfway point with only a 3 pound gain. I'll take it!

In other news... Colin seems to be enjoying his trip to Chicago. He brought a cell phone with him this trip and has been calling home almost every day. I think that is helping the distance seem like it is not so great. He will be here for Thanksgiving this year since we can't be sure when the baby will arrive, but he will be out in Chicago for Christmas. This will be only the second time we'll be apart for Christmas, but with a tiny baby in the house, Christmas here will be far from our normal routine anyway.

I am going to be acting in a local production of "Birth" that will be held on Labor Day weekend. I thought it would be a good distraction for me while Colin was away, plus I miss doing productions. There is a national movement of organizations putting on this particular show all around the country on Labor Day weekend (called BOLD - Birth on Labor Day). The show is done in a similar style to the Vagina Monologues and has a number of women characters all telling their birth stories intertwined. For those folks who are local, I'll be sure to get performance information out as soon as I know the full details. Tickets will be available at all Wegmans stores before the event.
