Well, today was definitely an uphill day. Emerson is totally off the bilirubin lights, is off the oscillating ventilator and is back on the regular ventilator, is weaning off the morphine and the other sedation medication they were having to give him, and had a totally clear brain ultrasound. The PDA appears to be responding to the medication. They don't think it is closed quite yet, but has narrowed. He is requiring much less respiratory support and his oxygen requirement is almost back to room air. We are more than thrilled! We know there are likely to be a lot more ups and downs, but we'll take the ups as we can get them.

He is just beautiful, and looks nice and strong! Now he just needs a little something in cashmere :) lol. Glad it was a good day.
Chris and Jim, congratulations on your new son! You will all be in my thoughts and I hope Emerson grows big and strong while he is in the NICU. Dutton looks so grown up since I last saw him :)
