From what we have heard, the surgery is fairly common for babies of his gestational age or earlier and they do 3-4 of these procedures a month at the NICU. The doctor that does it travels between here, Buffalo, and Syracuse so he does a lot of them and is supposed to be excellent. Because of his schedule, we may not get much notice before the procedure happens. They do it right at his bedside and the entire surgery only takes about 15 minutes. All that said, we are pretty nervous about the whole thing.
Last evening, after our visit to the hospital we stopped for dinner. When we came out of dinner, there was a HUGE, bright rainbow in the sky that persisted all the way home! I don't think I have ever seen a rainbow stick around that brightly for that long. We are taking that to be a good sign. :-)
