Lots more eye time

Emerson has been much more awake the past few days. For the first time it really feels like he is actually looking at us when this eyes are open. Along with being more awake, he is also getting himself into a lot more trouble. :-) He has extubated himself a number of times, has pulled out IV's, and is quite the squirmy little worm. He needs to get to the point where he is off the vent because he obviously no longer wants to be bothered by that tube. Today while I was sitting with him he lifted his head up and turned it completely to the other side. Of course that then messes with his vent tube and he starts setting off bells and whistles all over the place. Many of the nurses have said they would rather have a fighter like him than a baby that isn't feeling well and isn't moving or awake much. That said, he is certainly keeping them on their toes!

The doctors are still waiting to hear better bowel sounds before they try feeding him again. We are hoping it will only be another day or two. Honestly, I think the reason he was such a cranky boy today was because he was hungry! Other than that, there really haven't been many updates or new things to report. I guess this is one of those times that no news is good news.
