December 6

So. I'm now two days behind instead of just one. Hopefully I can catch up in the next day or two.

"At Christmas, all roads lead home." - Marjorie Holmes

Sunday, December 6th was the annual Pancake breakfast with Santa at our church sponsored by one of the local Girl Scout troops. It has been an annual tradition for us for a number of years. It was interesting because Dutton, who is our child without a shy bone in his body, wouldn't go near Santa. He was also really upset because he thought he would be getting his gifts from Santa when we saw him. We had to explain that it wasn't Christmas yet and Santa was still busy making gifts for all of the children. It's tough being 3!

Today's prompts were about symbols of the holiday. To me, one of the most powerful symbols of Christmas is the Star of Bethlehem. I wouldn't even consider having a tree with anything else on the top. To that end, I continue to search for just the right star and someday, maybe I will find it. Until then, as long as there is a star at the top of the tree, I'm happy. This year we have a new star because our old one would no longer light. Dutton picked it out. He wanted a traditional 5 point shape. A "shooting star" (as he called it) wouldn't do at all. I think I like the other shape better, myself, but that's ok for now. If anyone knows a good source for special tree top stars, let me know!

Jim has his in-class final exam for his EMT class tomorrow, so a lot of his time today was spent studying. Tomorrow is also my 40th birthday, but because of everything else going on right now, that will be put on hold for a bit.
