Halloween

I was really looking forward to having Emerson home for Dutton's birthday and Halloween, but I guess it wasn't meant to be. Halloween was a rough day for me. Some of the neighbors had heard the news that Emerson had come home but no one had heard he had to go back to the hospital. Almost every house we stopped at, I had to retell the story. Not fun. :-( It was fun though to watch Dutton going from door to door and saying "Trick or Treat" and "Thank You" so sweetly and to watch Colin and his friends heading out through the neighborhood by themselves.

Emerson is having a good day today. He seems to be tolorating the re-introduction of food well and his personality is starting to shine through again. They are going to want to keep him there for another full 7 day countdown after his last event. (None since yesterday afternoon that I know of!) When he comes home this time, we have requested that he come home on a monitor. They rarely do that these days, but his doctor agreed with us that even with all the false alarms we can expect, we will still sleep better knowing it is keeping track of him for us while we sleep. The best they can determine, this whole thing was a bad reflux episode caused by intestinal inflammation from a diet change last Monday. Since the only test result that looked off out of all of them was the intestinal x-ray, we may never know for sure what happened. At least it wasn't a terrible infection of some sort!
