Home after 90 days!!!

After 90 days in the NICU, we finally got Emerson home with us. I still would not allow myself to believe it was going to happen until I loaded him into the car. He is on lots of meds - between all of them, we have 21 daily doses to give him. Hopefully he will continue to take them as well as he has been. I'd hate to have to fight about it that many times a day, that's for sure! For now we have to do a few supplemented bottles a day because his levels of those important bone mineral are still low. I'm hoping he will outgrow a lot of the medications really soon.

Tomorrow we have our first visit to the pediatricians office. That is just the beginning of what seems like a "zillion" appointments we will have over the next few months - eye doctor, pulmonary, pediatric GI, surgeon follow-up, NICU follow-up clinic... For someone that isn't supposed to get out of the house much, he will be having quite a few trips to the doctor.

RIght now, I am wearing him in a Moby Wrap while I type. Jim gets the honor of running all over town to pick up Dutton and take Colin to guitar lessons and I get to keep him in out of this nasty cold wind we are having today. We expect the snow to start falling any minute. Good thing we are home before it starts!

Time for 4pm meds and some milk! :-) Thanks to everyone for all of your love and support through this crazy chapter in our book of life.
