One Year!

I haven't posted anything to this blog in a very long time, but I just had to send out an update today. Today Emerson turned ONE! On one hand, I just can't believe it has been an entire year, and on the other, I can't believe it is only been a year. Jim and I were talking about it tonight at dinner, and it seemed like the first 6 months were incredibly long, and the second six months have just flown by.

These days, Emerson is being your typical baby. When I compare what he is doing to what Dutton was doing at the same age (corrected) he is actually ahead of where Dutton was. That puts Emerson developmentally somewhere between his actual age and his corrected age. We couldn't ask for more than that!

Today, on his birthday, he signed "more" when he was eating breakfast. I thought I saw him trying to do it last week, but this morning it was very clear that it clicked in his brain. I asked him if he wanted more banana and he grinned from ear to ear and signed "more" repeatedly. :-) Then he repeated it over and over as we ate breakfast.

Tonight, at the Farmington parade, he started clapping his hands. He was having so much fun watching the fire trucks and bands go by, and grinned and clapped at his favorites.

He is also crawling everywhere and trying hard to pull himself up on anything he can find. You can just tell he wants to walk so badly. Instead of being a furniture cruiser, I think he is going to be a wall scaler. :-)

He has his two bottom teeth and I think the top two aren't far behind. To my dismay, he still isn't saying "Mama", but he says "Cah" for Colin, "Dada", and the cutest one is how he says Dutton. It comes out like Duh-T.

I'm just amazed at where we have come in one year's time. He weighs right around 20 pounds - almost 7 times his birth weight!

Here are a few of my favorite photos from the past week:

Happy Birthday Emerson!!!!
